Why The Pain From Your Setbacks Is The Framework For Your Future

In 1978, I found myself both divorced and bankrupt on the same day. Clearly, something hadn’t been working. I realized that if I wanted a life where anything was possible, it was time to do things differently.

One of the things that needed changing was how I viewed and structured my time. The way I had been creating deadlines and time frames only led to stress and failure and to the feeling that I never had enough time.

So I gave myself more time to complete my goals: 25 years.

The benefits of a 25-Year Framework.

I knew that, in reality, 25 years was probably more than enough time to complete my current goals, but giving myself this extraordinary amount of time immediately has resulted in less stress and pressure, and in the feeling that anything was possible.

Though I might not need the full 25 years, this structure gave me breathing room, which encouraged my creativity and innovation.

Setting things up in terms of a 25-year framework also meant that I could look at this upcoming period as a completely new stage of my growth as an entrepreneur, allowing me to leave the previous 25-year period in the past, where it belonged.

Instead of carrying past failures and old baggage with me into the future, I decided to keep only the lessons, which I would use as valuable resources.

Make a breakthrough in your time and you’ll make a breakthrough in your future. Join the best entrepreneurs and learn a new way to organize your life.

Anything is possible with the right mindset.

Putting the past behind me, I went on to remarry and to build Strategic Coach with my wife and business partner, Babs Smith. My new, expanded way of viewing my time provided a spacious structure in which to achieve my entrepreneurial goals and build my bigger future. No goal was too big or daunting when I had 25 years in which to complete it.

Delineating this next phase of my life this way helped me look at my past more strategically in terms of what I wanted to bring along with me—and what I would leave behind.

I saw that the previous 25 years could be seen as a period of research and development.

The next 25 years would be all about extracting the value from my past and using the lessons to create exponentials in all aspects of my entrepreneurial business and life. Everything I no longer needed was left behind, leaving me very lightweight and focused only on the future.

Make your biggest dreams a reality.

With The 25-Year Framework, I simultaneously freed myself from any past burdens that were weighing me down and gave myself more than enough time to accomplish my bigger future goals. I gave myself the opportunity to start over again with a fresh slate while at the same time bringing with me the valuable lessons from my past.

Imagine what could be possible for your future if you give yourself the time. Don’t be held back by past failures or strict deadlines. Anything is possible with a 25-year framework.
